About SEMDS

This is the website of the Southeast Michigan Dahlia Society, an affiliate of the American Dahlia Society.

We are a local group of people from many generations and backgrounds. The purpose of this organization is to share knowledge and provide services to our members.

We have monthly meetings during the off season and three key activities during the growing season:

In May of each year, we have a tuber sale on the first Saturday.

We have a picnic at a member's house on the first Sunday in August.

The big event that takes the most effort is the annual show, where 500 - 1000 blooms are set out for the public to enjoy about the second weekend in September. The blooms are judged and awards are presented at a banquet in October.
